BUCS Duathlon 2018

Hello all and welcome to our BUCS Duathlon weekend review. We brought a fierce squad of 16 tanks. A huge shoutout to Rian Cook representing the farmers, with legs of sculpted steel he is truly one of the greatest farming inspirations of this generation.

DJ/ FARMER COOK

The bus journey was somewhat quiet on the way down. With 75% of the bus sleeping, the plans to get the hype up were swiftly defeated. But as soon as we got hold of the speakers (thanks Miriam) DJ cook brought tunes for grand entry into Swindon #cityofculture.

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the free breakfast offered at the hotel. With our tummies rumbling, Eilidh magnificently directed us to Swindon’s finest Italian, the Da Vinci after saving the booking (Riccardi who?).

Despite the large portions this not enough for our fleet of triathletes and a trip to Morrison’s was had where Hanna bought multiple flumps and Michal a colouring book #raceessentials Back at the hotel a game of ‘guess the flag’ commenced primarily featuring Orkney, Shetland and the Isle of Wight. After being tucked into bed, the team slept, ready for the big day ahead.

A lovely breakfast was had where Hanna tried to make the most of the buffet by getting both High5 bottles filled with soya milk (questionable race tactics #hydration).

Nick made a beautiful, empowering and motivational speech on the bus #inspirational. With EUTri tattoos and blue stripes on our faces (and a sheep for farmer Cook) we racked our bikes. Warm ups were completed and the boys got ready to go.

bucs d 3Half the team got lapped by Rian’s high performance squad. Yet “The BOIZ” smashed the field for 4th team #quadzilla fuelled by our most recent sponsor @Redbull.

Shameless with his speed Paul cruised into first place on his phat steed (#electricmotor #dopetestpls), coming home in an impressive 2nd place!

With the girls’ race well underway, Miriam and her new sunglasses cruised round the bike course at the speed of light #freespeed. Throughout the race, the boys cheered the girls on with the ultimate enthusiasm.

Finley and Harold brought up the rear with some astonishingly fast sprint finishes in wave 3.

Shout out to our new BFF Malcom (bus driver) xoxo
